DU MPhil PhD Admissions Admit Card Results Notification 2017

DU M.Phil / PhD (Research) Entrance 2017-18: Delhi University has issued Notification for M.Phil, PhD admission 2017. Delhi University has decided to submit the online application and has invited the applications of M.Phil / PhD entrance candidates after May 31, 2017. Delhi University offers PhD courses in 27 departments, under which the selection process has been stated.

Delhi University is inviting applications for PhD / M.Phil admission 2017-18 from May 31, 2017. Candidates entering M.Phil / PhD programs in different departments of Delhi University are thus informing about the admission related information regarding online admission with admission to the broad entry session 2017-18.

Admission Criteria

The admission program in M.Phil / PhD will be based on written examination, after an interview. Applicants who are enrolled in M.Phil / PhD will be known through the programs- To check the Ordinance VI-B [see Annexure], if they are exempted from attending the written examination, to check- C. (Process for entry). However, interviews are mandatory for all applicants.

Seat Availability

PHD. Number of vacant seats for admission in different sub-categories of one department will be taken in advance and notified in the website / advertisement of the University. Consult the Faculty members about the number of vacant seats available with each of the head of the department in that academic year. Each future supervisor can decide on the number of seats that he may wish to fill a particular year within his maximum admissible power and accordingly may inform the head of the department.

PHD. Number of students admitted in the program will not exceed the prescribed maximum number for the program

All candidates M.Phil Want PhD / PhD? Courses will need to be registered online, on-line registration fees for admission to PhD courses (2017-2018)

Application Fee

Registration Fee for Scheduled Castes / Scheduled Tribes / PWD: Rs. 250 / – for each course
Registration fee for all other categories (Unreserved, OBC etc): Rs. 500 / – for each course
Note: Registration fee is non-refundable

DU PhD / MPFL Eligibility Criteria:

Eligibility Criteria for admission is a minimum of 55% marks in Master’s Degree / MPhil / M.Tech / LLM / MD / MS. With a 5% discount for OBC / SC / ST and disabled persons, the degree in the same or affiliated subjects from a recognized university is Ph.D. Related topics for admission in a particular department will be decided by the DRC of that respective department.

Any candidate, Ph.D. Will not be eligible for registration. If the program is already registered for any full time program of study in any university / institute.

After completing eligibility criteria, foreign nationals can be registered more and more in a year above maximum permissible force. However, at any given time, the total number of foreign students should not exceed 10% of the total acceptable strength. Foreign nationals should provide proof of favorable language competence for those departments who want to join

Center for Written Examination

The written test will be conducted at the centers located in the following cities: 12 cities across India
DU PhD Entrance Examination 2017 Scheme / Course

M. There will be a separate written examination for Phil. And Ph.D. program. However, in some departments, there is a common written examination for both M.Phil and Ph.D. program. If a candidate wishes to apply in both the programs provided by these departments, the candidate will also fill the separate registration form for each of the two programs.

The duration of the written examination will be two hours. The question paper will be of multiple selection questions (MCQ) type.

Entrance test course

The course wise PhD / M.Phil Entrance Examination Course for the entrance examination will be available on the University / Department website. Candidates in the entrance examination in different departments within the faculty will be cramped for permission to appear in more than one written examination, if they wish

The entrance examination will be held once in a year and eligibility of shortlisted candidates will be held till the next entrance examination or for one year, whichever is earlier, will remain valid. Based on the availability of seats prescribed by the DRC, the interview can be held twice (in July and December) or more often in a year.

At the time of the interview, if necessary, affiliates / specialty experts can be invited. Candidates will present their research interest / area and interview them at the time of interview.


Entry in the program is through written examination, resulting in shortlisting of candidates for the interview. It can be noted that there may be modes of evaluation other than interviews of certain departments. Candidates can refer to the departmental website or contact department (Section 8) for details.
